Katie Needs A Knockout Stylist...

We love top amateur female boxer Katie Taylor folks, sure she's only feckin' deadly. But when it comes to the style-stakes we reckon our best pugilistic Olympic gold hope for 2012 needs to go a few rounds with a decent stylist...

Katie Taylor

She has probably more gold around her neck than Mr T for amateur Irish boxer Katie Taylor is a world beater folks and you can bet your balls to a barndance that she'll be bringing home an Olympic Gold Medal from Britain in 2012...

Katie Taylor, Derval O'Rourke

When we caught-up with our Katie and the other fit ladies at the Irish Times Sportswoman of the Year at The Shelbourne Hotel last week - we made the decision to start a National campaign to find the big puncher a knockout stylist. It could be you.

Derval O'Rourke, Ciara Mageean

It's not that Katie Taylor needs or even wants a stylist folks. She's in the gym 7 days a week and probably couldn't care less about swanning around City Centre boutiques trying on designer labels and the latest Louis Vuitton heels. And why should she? She eats, drinks, and sleeps boxing.

Ann Downey, Angela Downey, Katie Taylor, Geraldine Kenny, Martin Cullen, Derval O'Rourke, Mary O'Connor, Ciara Mageean

But with the Olympics looming and the potential of Gold, we reckon the Dublin lass could do with a bit of help on the clothes front as there will be no doubt numerous social and media events that she will be obliged to attend. And seeing as all she cares about is boxing, it makes sense that someone else should be working on her public image. We're not saying spray her up orange and slap on fake nails and few dodgy hair extensions like your average Dublin photocall queen. We just feel she needs a wee bit of help. A diamond in the rough so to speak.

Derval O'Rourke

So come on Irish stylists and fashion houses out there. Get behind our greatest amateur sportswoman and make sure she looks the part come 2012... God knows she is far more worthy when we think of the ladies out there getting freebies left right and centre just coz they are dating someone semi famous or are on the books of a model agency. Naming no names. Ahem.

yea she should be wearing a snazzy diamante fuchsia pink slit to the gee dress from chica or fran and jane or somewhere else that sells really elegant and classy clothes.. and be glowing orange with massive extensions like all the other (TRAGIC) "fashionistas" in dublin! oh and whack in some ghd curls for the craic. how about a pair of jimmy choo strappy sandals. bleedin gorgeous. and tasteful. and definitely better that what she's wearing. the shock of not gettin everything out for the lads! who does she think she is?

amybeans you obviously only read things you want to see as i made a few valid points, which are clearly views shared by most others who have a braincell on this site. you excluded, obviously.

Jules: I would tend to the cows except your mom and sister are out to pasture at the moment and I wouldn't like to disturb them at their lunch!
Bogger: You know this for a fact?
Elaine: It's so easy to dismiss a view as jealously in the absence of anything substantive to contribute. Come back when your lexicon has increased to the point of being worthy of conversing with me.

I warned you to stop embarrassing yourself amybeans but you just cant help yourself. Poor amybeans, we should pity your obvious jealousy.
The intelligent assets models strengthen their career cv by adding a hobby such as modelling. If they can make money out of looking good then fair play to them and im sure many people would see that point. BUT they also have the brains to do something else after their modeling days. I agree with you many dont have brains, ie the asketeers, but just because some other girls do it doesnt mean they shouldnt use their looks as well!

Bogger
January 27, 2010 - 10:38

Amybeans 'incappable of presenting your arguement intelligently'. Hahahahahahah, and you slag models off. At least most of them can spell.

Jules
January 27, 2010 - 10:28

Amybeans you absolute minging mucksavage, go back out there and tend to the cattle.

Amybeans – Tipp
January 27, 2010 - 10:23

Personal slights on me don't in any way support your point. Give me a reasoned argument please. All you have served to do with your previous remark is further support my suggestion that you are inarticulate and incappable of presenting your arguement intelligently.

Elaine
January 27, 2010 - 10:13

Wow you really are stupid amybeans! stop embarrassing yourself with comments like that, it just makes you look jealous.

Amybeans – Tipp
January 27, 2010 - 09:37

Well Elaine, given your poor command of the English language and unsubstantial argument, it is probably safe to assume that you can be assigned to the ranks of this cohort of young women so I'm not surprised in the least that you are biased. I can see how a background in the "fashion industry" may be advantageous to someone working in P.R or marketing however, people pursuing proper professions will undoubtedly be discredited by having worked as a model.

Elaine
January 27, 2010 - 08:13

Amybeans you must me dog ugly or very jealous, I cant see how else you would think working as a model alters your career progress! Probably the most stupid thing I ever heard!
Perhaps if you are talking about the likes of the brainless Asketeers who are prancing around naked in tabloids. But only couple of bimbos do that all the time.
As oifpiof says, for the ones with degrees, adding model to their CV means they are probably a damn lot hottter than the other candidates! So if anything it will be an advantage to them!

hmmmm....
January 26, 2010 - 22:42

Princess what non-modelling "talents" do Rosanna Davison, Claudine Palmer and Roz Lipsett possess? (Note: a 2.1 Arts degree from UCD could be obtained by any monkey with learning difficulties)

oifpiof
January 26, 2010 - 20:24

I think you'll find it's the good looking girls that get ahead in this world.......business is the same. So I wouldn't be too concerned about the odd picture of you being around in years to come!

If I'm looking at a CV and one is a fat minger with a degree and the other is a former model with the same degree, who the fook do you think I'm gonna wanna look at from 9 to 5 Monday to Friday?

Stupid beep.

Amybeans – Tipp
January 26, 2010 - 09:07

I thought Suzanne Mc Cabe got fired from her job hence why she had to resort to her new career. Is'nt she about 30? To be honest, the fact that these girls have degrees makes it even more ridiculous that they behave as they do, they should know better. How are you supposed to garner any credibility in a career if there are photos of you out acting a pratt in your underwear. They last forever...

Ha ha the first person to comment on this is def a rug munching bogball playing sow.....

princess
January 26, 2010 - 07:32

rosanna davison, claudine palmer, laura toogood, roz lipsett, suzanne mccabe. ofcourse the asketeers and co dont have a brain cell between them, but there is a small group of assets girls who have shown they do

Commentator – online
January 25, 2010 - 21:52

Princess, name them.

Princess
January 25, 2010 - 20:05

How stupid-there are several models in assets who have degrees and are very successful in other things. what an ignorant comment.

ipojpoj
January 25, 2010 - 19:02

and criticising models for not being sportswomen is just as ridiculous! They both have polar opposite roles and the first person to comment on this thread IS the braindead person they'd make models out to be with that first comment.

Oh the irony of it all...

Bishop Brennan – Craggy Island
January 25, 2010 - 17:55

hahaha that last group shot reminds me of the Fr Ted episode when the winner of the Lovely Girls competition had to wear dresses made by the "Mammy" of the priest organiser........

Sportswoman of the year wins a plaque and years supply of dresses made by Martin Cullen's Mammy!!!

Too funny!!!

Trev
January 25, 2010 - 17:49

Valid point commentator but if these woman are going to be representing Ireland they should:

1. Be dressed to appeal to a international TV audience
2. Be given their clothes for free

In any other country they would be sponsored to the hilt!!

Commentator – online
January 25, 2010 - 16:12

Criticising these girls for their fashion sense when they have forgone more lucrative careers in order to represent Ireland at international competitions is absolutely ridiculous. The "Irish models" (wipes tears of laughter from his eyes) all deserve a pasting as none of them have any style, but these young women are terrific ambassadors for Ireland in their chosen pursuits. Carry on Katie, Derval et al.

Yikes
January 25, 2010 - 15:12

She looks like a 90 year old granny mixed up with a gladiator!

Toaster – Rathmines
January 25, 2010 - 14:54

Katie is cooler, more interesting and therefore hotter than the usual vapid girls on this site.

ciara c – Dub
January 25, 2010 - 14:37

Well there has been worse crimes of fashion committed by 'models' and so called 'fashionista's' . She's a boxer ( a talented one at that) not a Grafton Street poser ,I really dont think it matters what she wears ...stop nit picking people !

PR Lady – Dublin London
January 25, 2010 - 14:16

I think they all need help jeez so many horrific crimes against fashion above but I suppose rugby and soccer players are equally badly dressed.

Brown Thomas should sponsor Katie's clothes after all ameture sports people rely on sponsorships.

Model A1 – Dublin
January 25, 2010 - 14:05

she's a lovely girl but hard to style because of her big shoulders and muscular upper body. her outfit above is god awful in fairness dont know where to start :)

Amybeans – Tipp
January 25, 2010 - 12:20

Thank God! This girl personifies talent, dedication, tenacity and class. What a rolemodel for young Irish women! This is how you get respect ladies, dogged determination to suceed at your craft. A far cry from riding rugby players, prancing around Grafton St in your Knickers or frequenting Krystle. Assets take note!
