Another day, another Beauty Queen. Yes, you guessed it. Ireland has another lovely girl in a sash and a tiara, doing the Queen's wave and hoping to work with children and the elderly... (Drum Roll) Miss Ireland 2008 is: Sinead Noonan. Deal with it.

Ever since Andrea Roche jumped ship, everyone (not us) thought that the Miss Ireland pageant franchise would go down the Swanny, as it was circling the drain before she got involved. What a lady.

But organiser Krishna Naidoo pulled it off in style and managed to put on a big glamorous show... There was far less orange-hued fake-baked girls on show (apart from Michelle Heaton), as in the Miss Universe Ireland extravaganza. A better quality of lovely girl...

Hosts on the night were former Big Brother star Brian Dowling and former every-other-Reality-TV-show star Myleene Klass. And they weren't half bad as hosts go.

Adding a real touch of class on the night was Miss World 2006 Tatana Kucharova (Rosanna Davison eat your heart out)... The traditional handover of the crown from the former Miss Ireland winner, 2007's Blathnaid McKenna, was scrapped this year... Another fallout from the Andrea Roche departure wethinks.

One of the judges at the Crown Plaza Hotel finals was former model Amanda Byram, who we spotted with her new American fella in Temple Bar last week. Let's hope Amanda is better at judging women than men. Never forget folks, she once dated Patrick 'the head on him' Kielty... Shiiiver.

But the real test for rival Miss Ireland and Miss Universe Ireland contests, will be when they go up to the big-shows and compete against the hottest girls on the planet... We wish them luck! If any of our 2008 Beauty Queens win a world title, let's hope they do more with it than standing at the top of Grafton Street wearing a bikini in the rain advertising ice pops or getting their kit-off in a UK Lads’ Mag... We'll say no more.
