Models & The City...

News just in - Dublin city has more models per capita than ANY other city on the planet. FACT. Dublin has more models, modelling agencies, beauty pageants, model photocalls and percentage media coverage given over to our lovely girls than any other city in the world. Crazy, we know! Statistics show that every OTHER person in Dublin is a model. So if you're not one, chances are, the person beside you is...

Sarah Morrissey, Sarah McGovern & Karen Fitzpatrick

First we had the DOT COM bubble, and then we had the property developer explosion. Right now, we are in the middle of a modelling BOOM people. That's right. With some of our top ladies raking-in as much as 200 Euros per-day, this town is only feckin' teeming with leggy catwalk queens. Annnd you can't move for model agencies either – Assets, Compton, First Option, Morgan, B Scene, Andrea Roche – the list goes on and on... Don't even get us started on the number of beauty pageants there are.

Sarah Morrissey, Sarah McGovern, Karen Fitzpatrick, Blaithnaid McKenna, Yomiko

Chances are - if you've tried to walk down Grafton Street lately or enter St Stephen's Green, you've had to run the gauntlet of photographers and orange hued gals in their teeny-weenies, promoting anything from cars to ice creams. Ooooo yes. These girls will promote ANYTHING. Just give them a builder's hard-hat and a bikini, stick your product in their hand and hey presto! Instant media coverage. Guaranteed.

Sarah Morrissey, Sarah McGovern, Karen Fitzpatrick

And it's no wonder we've a model boom given that our national media publications freely give over 36.666 percent of their pages to lovely girls in their knickers pushing some product placement or another at their readers... Okay. Where do we get our statistics from we hear you cry? Same place everyone else in the media does - we make them up... Have you ever noticed how Ireland is always top of EVERY international poll EVER taken in the media? More news just in - Polls take up another 23.25 percent of the pages in our national papers... Makey-up stats ROCK!

Sarah Morrissey, Sarah McGovern, Karen Fitzpatrick, Blaithnaid McKenna, Yomiko

But just to prove our hypothesis, our snappers and weaker members of the public had to move out of the way as a herd of Assets models (we think they were Sarah Morrissey, Sarah McGovern, Karen Fitzpatrick, Blaithnaid McKenna and Yomiko) stampeded their way down the street yesterday with their big long slinky legs and manicured eyebrows... On that point, what DO you call a big bunch of models in a group? If this was Xpose they'd probably call them the 'glitterati' or the 'fashionistas' or some shite. Shhhhhudder... But don't worry folks - if by some chance you live in Dublin and are NOT a model, this boom is set to bust. Already The Glenda has got-out of modelling and gone to presenting, Michelle Doherty has done similar and Rosanna's looking towards TV too. The end of Irish modeling is nigh.

I've seen most of this girls in person and there's no way in hell any of these girls are 5'8" and over. Thats not a model. A model is someone who is tall, elegant and just makes your jaw drop when you see them... our girls like rosanna and pippa are lovely looking girls and deserve all they have but they can never make it to the runways of Milan, newyork and Paris. Also I noticied that when I saw them none of them looked happy to be there and were told to smile. If I ad all they have I'd have a constant smile! They dont realise how lucky they area

Alison Canavan, Kiera Gormley and if she wanted Michelle Doherty are the only real Irish models.

I agree these women aren't xactly moels in the true sense - more dolly birds - butheyyou have to make a living even if tht means embarassing yourself promoting mobile phones or whatever...

I blame the Irish media for Ireland having "models" with zero amount of class. Irish media rave about any promotions girl that dares to stand in the freezing cold weather in a bikini.

IMO Glenda is the only real model Ireland has at present. As for Rosanna, she won Miss World but still has not amounted to much apart from getting herarseout of a Men's Mag. Daddy must be so proud. :(

Eh Rosanna IS a promo girl for feck sake!! Check out some of the cheesy photocalls she does and then the lads mag thing?? Give ME a break!!

She is hardly high fashion now is she? And those shots with her goofy looking BF whatever his name is.... From Miss World to selling tat in her undies on Grafton Street WELL DONE Rosanna... LOL

Rosanna - a promo girl... give it a rest will ye!!! She won Miss World and did us proud.. the cheek of some people... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.. All all those girls you mention are doing very well for themselves, just because their job is in the public eye, instead of behind a desk, you slate them. We are all the same, doing our jobs, making some money... Get a grip !!

The girls u photographed here ARE proper models. I think you are confusing REAL models with promotion girls like Pippa O'Connor, Sara Kavanagh, Michelle McGrath, Rosanna Davison, Roberta Rowat and the rest of them......... The tabloid queens!!!

They wouldn't know one end of a catwalk from the other!!

Oh please....... give us a break..........most of these girls are not models and never will be. Holding a chocolate bar whilst wearing a bikini on Grafton Street does not make you a model. A pretty gal with a nice figure, yes but model, I am sorry but no.
Most of these girls hold down full time jobs also, and therefore do not make enough money from "modelling". What they make in modelling would barely cover a Thursday night in Kyrstle. FACT.

But hey good luck girls, if it gets you into the VVVVVVVIP section, work it!!!!!

Correction. Ireland has more promotion girls than any other city! Lets not insult the real models eh!!
